Scholarship Fund
CTAV is soliciting funds from companies and individuals to permanently fund a yearly scholarship for transit kids wanting to attend college. If you or your organization can donate money to a great cause please call us at (571) 217-3143. 100% of the money is used for the kids.
2007 Scholarship Awarded!
The Community Transportation Association of Virginia is pleased to announce Loren Nicole Breeden a graduating senior from Spotswood High School in Rockingham County has been named the organization’s 2007 scholarship award recipient.
The Community Transportation Association of Virginia is a statewide organization of small urban and rural transit providers – including many human service agencies. Equipment suppliers and related vendors also actively participate in CTAV activities and training programs. The $1,000 scholarship is made available to students graduating from a Virginia public high school who have a parent or grandparent employed by a CTAV member organization. Loren’s grandfather, John Ritchie, is employed Kingmor Supply - a bus equipment company located in Harrisonburg.
Loren is a National Honor Society student and has served as a health care companion volunteer. She also works part-time for Kingmor Supply. She will attend Blue Ridge Community College this fall and eventually enroll at a four-year university. She plans to study special education and pursue a career in teaching.
We're looking for a 2008 recipient!
The recipient of the $1,000 scholarship will be a Virginia high school senior who has a parent or grandparent employed by an active CTAV member. The form is easy to complete and you could be helping a family member or friend for life.
This scholarship is for any child or grandchild of a CTAV member transit organization who is a high school senior and will be attending college. Download the information and application now. The winner is chosen in late fall and presented at the yearly summer EXPO and conference.
