Scheduled Training
PennTRAIN has released the training schedule for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2008. Please use the attached registration form to register for the classes. Tuition for all of PennTRAIN classes is $95.00 per day. VA RTAP scholarships may be avialable through at DRPT. The courses are as follows:
Accident Investigation Course – October 8-9, 2008 – The Atherton Hotel, 125 S. Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801, 814-231-2100. Room block is under PennTRAIN at a rate of $74 per night. Cut-off is September 8 and tuition is $190. Registration on October 8 is 10:00 a.m. A brochure is attached. Due to overwhelming demand The Daecher Consulting Group, Inc. will conduct a two-day accident investigation course through PennTRAIN. The object of this course is to provide technical knowledge, skills, and methods to conduct an objective on-scene accident investigation; to provide an objective method to conduct a post-accident determination of preventability; and to effectively use accumulated investigation data to improve training and operations and reduce accidents. TransitSCORE/PennSCORE Refresher – December 9-11, 2008 – The Nittany Lion Inn, 200 West Park Avenue, State College, PA 16803, 800-233-7505. Room block is under PennTRAIN at a rate of $109 per night. Tuition is $285 and registration is 8:00 a.m. December 9. Graduates have requested this course as a way to keep their knowledge and training skills current. Since the first PennSCORE program in 1999, many changes have occurred in the training needs of transit personnel. This course is designed to address those needs and provides a setting for graduates to come together to share their experiences and to gain additional information and skills. We recommend this course to renew your PennSCORE/TransitSCORE certification every three years. Instructors: Robert Schmitt, Michael Noel
Professional Supervisor Program (PSP) – Professional Supervisor/Manager Training is a multi-level series of courses for transit supervisors and managers. Completion of all four levels (100, 200, 300 and 400) leads to a Professional Supervisor/Manager Training Certificate. This program is based on the PennSCORE model and offers high quality, practical and effective training for transit supervisors and middle managers. Student begin PSP training at Level 100 and move on consecutively through each level. Each course level requires three days of training. Homework assignments given in levels 100, 200 and 300 make up an important component of the program and the amount of time required to complete the assignments is manageable. The first day of each training session begins at 8:00 a.m. and evening sessions are included in Levels 200-400. Full course outlines and agendas will be available prior to the class. Tuition for each class level is $285.

PSP Level 100 – July 22-24, 2008 – Wyndham, 95 Presidential Circle, Gettysburg, PA 17325, 717-339-0020. Room block under PennTRAIN at a rate of $114.00 per night. The cut-off for reservations is 6/21/2008. Level 100 includes: understanding supervision; practical coaching; communication effectiveness; self-esteem/building confidence; relationship changes; your role in counseling employees; understanding customer needs; hiring/firing guidelines; worker’s compensation; and sexual harassment.
